All our metal wheelie bins have double skinned, rotary moulded lids. As part of our EN 840 certification for metal bins, lids have to withstand impact tests. Single skin plastic lids invariably fail this test.
The top edge of these wheelie bins is made from single tube welded to the top of the bin. This gives the wheelie bin extreme strength and rigidity.
These bins are hot dip galvanised after they are manufactured. This really ensures total protection, which is not the case with some other metal bins.
The strength of the lifting bar and its compliance to EN840 is critical to the safety of operators. Someone could get killed if a poorly engineered comb bar fails.
All 4 wheel metal EN840 bins come with "chip nests" for fitting RFID chips.
Paladin v EN840 Bins
There are two basic styles of galvanized metal wheelie bins. The standard range of EN840 size wheelie bins and the range of compact 4 wheel bins that were originally introduced to replace the old 1970s Paladin cylindrical bins. The round Paladin bins have fallen out of favour with local authorities and were replaced by the more practical 1100l steel bins. We do still stock some Paladins but due to the low demand we do not keep a full range. If you require a Paladin please get in touch to see how we can help. Paladins are still popular in certain housing developments and are usually found collecting waste at the bottom of rubbish chutes. With the largest size 4 wheel galvanized bin now available in 1280 litres it collects over 30 percent more then a the largest 940 litre making them a more attractive option for councils and developers.
